Whaley Bridge Rose Queen
Festival Committee
Invite you to the
2010 Rose Queen Selection Afternoon
At
Whaley Bridge Bowling Club
On
Sunday 28th March at 1-
Dear Friends,
On Saturday 26th June 2010 we will be holding the annual Whaley Bridge Rose Queen Festival and without the support of local residents, their families and friends this could easily not take place.
The Rose Queen Festival Committee puts in a lot of hard work throughout the year to hold this event and funds raised from Carnival Day and other events throughout the year are given back at our Presentation Evening to local youth organisations.
We would love to see some new faces.
We would like to invite any girl/boy with a parent/guardian living within a 2.5 mile radius of The Mechanics Institute, Whaley Bridge where that village/town does not hold its own Carnival to enter in one of the following sections.
Rose Queen: Aged 12 to 16 years on Carnival Day
Junior Queen: Aged 10 or 11 years on Carnival Day
Princess: Aged 8 or 9 years on Carnival Day
Rosebud: Aged 4 to 7 years on Carnival Day
Attendants and Pageboys need to be age 4 upwards
A Parent/Guardian must attend the Selection Afternoon
If you wish to see for yourself more of what is involved, please come along to our Court of Queens on Sunday 1st March 2009 at Whaley Bridge Bowling Club from 1:30pm. We will be hosting a Queens Arena event for Visiting Royalty from towns and villages within Derbyshire and you will be able to get an idea of what normally takes place at these events.
LETTING YOUR CHILD TAKE PART DOES NOT NEED TO COST A FORTUNE OR TAKE UP THE WHOLE OF YOUR YEAR
· Royalty begin their role on Carnival Day and are required to attend Rose Queen events such as the Pet Show, Car Boot Sale and Coffee Mornings. We would also like our royalty to attend any events such as the Wells Dressing and Remembrance Day in which they may be invited.
· It is only necessary for our royalty to attend a minimum of 3 Carnivals and 3 Courts of Queens – which are indoor Queens Arena events held during the winter.
· Own transport is preferable.
· Parents/Guardians need to accompany their child to all events.
· Parents/Guardians automatically become committee members and their views/opinions are welcome.
More information will be given and any questions answered on the afternoon before the selection begins. If you have any queries or questions before the day please contact:
Ann Bell on 01663 73208 or John Barnes on 01663 733603 (All Evenings)
